The twentieth edition of our magazine is packed full of spill and incident response news and case studies. We have a marine case study that follows the response and clean-up following a huge storm at Hollyhead which destroyed the marina. The other case study covers the clean-up of a spill from an oil tank at a grade 2 listed building that required a structural rebuild. We also catch up on the latest from ‘the largest spill since the Sea Empress loss’ in South Wales following the derailment of a freight training pulling railway tank wagons full of diesel at Llangennech and the latest news from Mauritius as the impact of the grounding and subsequent loss of the MV Wakashio starts to draw slowly to a close.
On a more technical front, we suggest how to respond to spills involving second-generation biofuels and approaches to be used and factors to consider when planning remediation. There is plenty of industry and member news to interest all in this 37-page issue.
We have enjoyed working with our contributors who have provided their expert industry insights and knowledge. Thank you to all who have contributed.
We hope you enjoy this issue. Please let us know your thoughts!
