Whilst the Annual Conference is a great way to communicate a lot, primarily on the inland side of the Association, there is never sufficient time to explore topics with any depth.
In June 2024 we held a successful well-attended 2 day conference in Southampton that enabled us to explore Marine Alternative Fuels and Marine Plastic Pollution in real depth with real benefit to the industry.
On 16 June, we will explore PFAS remediation strategies, hear four solid case studies, responder health aspects of incidents involving Li-ion batteries and PFAS, responder training and the Competency by Qualification Scheme.
In the evening, there will be a Surf and Turf BBQ and networking event.
On 17 June we will discuss response to VLSFO spills and the outcomes from the IMAROS 2 project. Find a pathway through the maze of developments in marine alternative fuels and modelling these incidents, responder safety and training. Hear 3 case studies of recent incidents involving container losses, plastic bio-beads and a vessel capsize. Discuss responder stress, workload and retention.
I am working with Socotec to pull Day 1 together and welcome discussion on content, sponsorship and fun. I will be pulling together a small microsite for this conference.
