Wednesday night there was a loud explosion in a container on board MV Ocean Trader, a 90m container ship, which docked yesterday in Jebel Ali port.
The fire has extended to the forward part of the vessel and is being fought by port and civil defence fire crews.
This again highlights the risk to container ships and their owners of carrying sealed containers which rely on the honesty of those loading and shipping them when making the declaration of contents.
