PFAS Working Group of the UK and Ireland Spill Association Ltd (UKIreSpill-PFAS)

Terms of Reference

1. Key Objective

Through collaborative working to generate a communication strategy to members, relevant regulators and in particular to CLAIRE and CIRIA that enables the PFAS Working Group to communicate to members best practices about the management of PFAS incidents and PFAS remediation. Additionally, to ensure that guidance produced by regulators, CLAIRE and CIRIA is practical, realistic and capable of being implemented.

 

2. Group Composition

The UKIreSpill-PFAS will comprise a small group of no more than eight inland focused members with expertise in dealing with PFAS contamination drawn from testing labs, contractors and consultants drawn from the following groups:

  • Corporate members
  • ISAS Inland Accredited Members

 

3. Initial work

Communicate with CLAIRE and CIRIA to seek involvement or express an interest in receiving draft guidance so that members’ views may be fed into their committees.

Establish a mechanism for communicating PFAS issues, challenges and case studies to members.

 

4. Regulator liaison

The PFAS Working Group should liaise with the EA PFAS team and express their views on policy, practical implementation of remediation guidelines.

 

5. Communication

The PFAS Working Group should issue guidance through articles in Spill Alert and presentations to members at conferences and events.
