This is the second webinar from the Plastic Pollution Working Group in which we deliver our 2022 goals. In the last webinar, Oracle Environmental presented how the plastic in our oceans got there and explained the sources and pathways by which it got there.
The second webinar looks at the oceans and what happens to the plastic within the ocean. We seek to explain the transition from solid plastic to nano plastics and the impact this has on the marine ecosystem and marine life along that journey. Using published research, some very recent, we discuss how it is entering the human food chain and the harmful effects this may have.
We also then discuss some factors that we should consider when determining shoreline clean up end points in plastic pollution incidents.
